With growing families it often comes to a point where you feel a little claustrophobic and that the requirement for additional space is a priority.
Either way we feel confident in saying that you will likely be pleasantly surprised in how simple the process is for completing a loft conversion and the pricing required to achieve this.
Home improvement projects do not need to be stressful and should always offer a straightforward solution.
We completed this loft conversion in Cheshire. Our client’s eldest child was of an age where he wanted his own space. It was decided that the loft space would be used to create a bedroom with an en-suite shower room.
The design created utilised every inch of the space available. Where it was impossible to use the space for the bedroom, suitable storage was created. This also improved the aesthetics of the room.
Underfloor heating was installed to ensure that the space remained warm during the colder months and Velux windows were installed to offer direct light.
Are you interested converting your loft space?
Avoid the cost of stamp duty, solicitor fees, search and survey fees and the inconvenience of moving by utilising the available space in your existing home.
We are happy to come and provide you with information and detail of what can be achieved. Loft spaces are different in varying homes and there may be limitations that you need to be made aware of.

We have always put our clients first; thinking of decisions from our clients point-of-view means that we are likely to make better decisions that will result in content clients.
It is too often seen that building works are rushed or of a poor quality due to cutting corners and speed. This is not how to produce work that is aesthetically right or long-lasting. And inevitably as a builder; if you don’t do the job right the first time, you will need to do it again. The lesson is simple: do it right the first time.
Another important part of who we are as builders is to always have a flexible approach. Our client’s designs and preferences are all individual and it is important that things (that can be) are approached in a non-rigid way. Too many times are we told about builders who want to complete things their way and cannot interpret requirements to achieve the best possible result.
A customer receiving great care throughout the process ensures that the build runs smoothly and without delay. There are inevitable factors that can delay parts of the process but open communication always allows both parties the opportunity to discuss these and adapt plans around such delays.
Building services are complex, however, this is what we do and we are passionate about delivering exceptional standards in building work.

There are a number of reasons why individuals look to extend their property. They may be:
- Looking for additional living space
- Looking to add value onto their home prior to sale
- Looking to alter the appearance of their property
Although these factors vary greatly; there is a simple process that needs to be followed and understood prior to undertaking your new extension.
Do not be daunted by the many laws surrounding extensions. We have decades of experience in the building trade and we are on hand to offer valuable advice and information that will make the process more straightforward. This includes consideration of:
- Your neighbours ‘right to light’
- Minimum ceiling heights
- Understanding the required Building Regulations
- Permitted development rights
- Minimum room sizing
This service is provided as part of our comprehensive building provision. Part of being a reputable builder is the ability to offer a turn-key solution so that clients are able to concentrate on their vision for additional space and design elements that will make their extension perfect for their requirements.
Extension Top Tips:
Here are a couple tips that we have drawn up to enable you to get the most from your house extension:
Avoid creating a through room: this has to take into consideration the way in which you enter your extension. By dividing up a room to create an entrance or hallway to your additional space may mean that you are sacrificing more than you are gaining. Ensure to avoid the creation of an unusable space, a walk through or a dumping ground.
Ensure to have adequate facilities: if you are looking to add bedrooms in your extension design it is important that you have a balance of bathrooms or shower rooms to facilitate this. It is well-accepted that a four-bedroom house should have an en-suite and main bathroom. If you are looking to add any further bedrooms, careful consideration should be made to offer additional facilities.

These pictures show a project we undertook in Manchester. It shows the major structural works that were required. We were asked to take down the whole ground floor walls to allow us to continue with a new extension.
There are common renovation mistakes that occur for those who are not well-informed in relation to what is required. The problems raised by such mistakes can range from the most minor issue to a major, catastrophic disaster.
Common Reasons for Renovation
- Addition of living space to your family home
- A recent purchase that requires renovation
- To increase a properties potential for re-sale
We are confident and experienced in all aspects of building work. When we approach any building project we also feel it is important to:
- Tailor your approach to each individual job
- Inform clients of previous work completed
- Listen to the client’s requirements
- Work with the customer to produce the best possible result and finish
We often find that with new clients that they are daunted by the process of altering their home because they do not know where to start and are unaware of the rules and regulations regarding extending their homes.
We assist with this process to make sure that all legal requirements are completed in a timescale that matches the building works.
- Make sure to invest in the best possible materials as this will ensure the longevity of your project
- Do not cut corners on designing your extension as a well-designed project can transform a property and in turn the value of a property

An incredible way to bring a statement focal point to any room is to have a unique fireplace. As well as providing a functional solution, a new fireplace can provide aesthetic benefits.
These images show a fireplace we completed in Hartford, Cheshire. We started by knocking the existing fireplace out. An important part of such work is ensuring that mess is kept to an absolute minimum. We will do all we can to ensure this is the case for every job that we complete.
Supports had to be installed as the customer wanted to include an oak beam mantle. We take great pride in our work and offer our clients assurance naturally through our knowledge of our trade and the skillset we use to complete any job.
Any home improvement project is an opportunity to inject personal taste into your home. It is usual that our clients take great pride in producing a unique statement.
This project is a brilliant example of this as the slate hearth was hand cut from an old snooker table we had sourced. This was another element that helped finish the job off with complete customer satisfaction.
The different elements of design produced a statement fireplace. It is important to apply our ethos of attention to detail to every job, whatever its size.
At the moment a huge number of people are looking to improve their existing home, rather than moving. Whether these are extensions or adaptations, all can be considered as an investment as careful consideration will produce something that will improve the value and saleability of your home.
A beautiful fireplace also adds such a lot of character to a room; if you feel as though you want to redesign a room in your home with a wood burner or stylish fireplace like the one we completed please call us today on 07894215123 or 01606 40565.

There are many factors that need to be taken into account when considering whether to move or extend your current home. Such factors as location, convenience and familiarity may well keep you where you are but your family’s changing needs may dictate whether this is possible or not.
- Fees to the estate agent
- Fees to the solicitors
- Fees to complete surveys
- Stamp duty payments
- Improvement costs or essential repairs
Other than improvement costs to your new home; the fees are funds that are lost in the process of moving home.
When considering an extension, here are some other elements that should be thought about:
- Take into consideration the relative property values in the housing around you
- Consider any lacking essential facilities within your home; i.e. bathroom and kitchen
- Ensure there is as little as possible imbalance in the accommodation such as bedrooms and living space
Time invested in looking into the above factors will inevitably leave you to get the most from your building project. Extending your home does require a range of considerations but it is likely one of the most exciting times.
Extending your home provides you with the opportunity to offer your family adequate living space and can mean that family members have individual spaces for their differing needs.
More usable space will allow your family a better quality of living and will in turn offer an asset that you can benefit from when selling on your property.

We use every opportunity to offer valuable detail to potential clients. The building trade is one of the most prevalent fields where there are a number of myths that are thought to be true. It is important that our clients are well-informed and best-placed to make educated decisions.
Here are a couple of building myths;
Myth One: You Should Follow Latest Trends
It is important that when thinking about a redesign that you take a few things into consideration: these include, requirements, design and forward thinking.
It is imperative that your home improvement project matches the individual requirements of your family. It is an obvious statement but each family is different and so their daily living requirements will differ from home to home.
Design should always be considered with forward thinking as it depends heavily on whether you are looking to put the house up for sale or rent anytime in the future. Personal tastes are brilliant to see, however, should a redesign project be necessary it is important that your design ideas are tailored to meet these variations.
As the word states; trends will come in and out of fashion and it is best to implement a design that is long-lasting and multi-functional.
Myth Two: Any Remodel Project Is a Good One
This is an incorrect statement due to the fact that a successful project demands a range of skillsets in order to produce the best finish. A less superior finish or problematic process can offer an unsatisfactory project.
There is a huge amount of detail and knowledge required and this, alongside the skilled workmanship required, are the only ways of ensuring the smooth running of the process.
The most important elements of any home improvement work is that it adds value to your home and that the project meets your needs for additional living space.

We recently published an article that offered advice and information about how best to deal with project schedules for home extensions.
As no two extensions are ever the same, it is an opportunity for us to employ the use of experience and knowledge to tailor the process to achieve the best possible result.
There is, however, a basis that forms the starting point for each project. Once the extension has gone through the planning stage, the project start date will be set.
The first step is for the footings to be dug. The size of the job will dictate whether a digger is required or not.
The second part of the process is to build up the damp-proof course, the installation of the drains, the installation of the damp-proof course and to pour the concrete slab. This allows clients the opportunity to first imagine what their new space will look like.
External walls are then built up using a combination of blocks and brickwork. Quality wall insulation is fitted throughout the external walls and this ensures optimum heat retention. Wall ties fix the newly built walls to the existing structure.
All internal walls are built, which splits the new space as required. The roof is then built; there are different types of roofs and we will make sure to offer valued advice in the careful selection of the best option. This will take into account a number of factors and budget constraints.
We can then break through to the original property; windows and doors are fitted and the structure is water tight. First fix electrics, plumbing, plastering, further electrics, additional plumbing and decoration is then completed.
During the process our clients often comment on the demanding intensity of the process that they would feel without our support. We work to support the decision-making process, planning enquiries, building regulation interaction, formalities and design ideas. This is an area of work that we take great pride in.
If you would like to discuss your home improvement options further we invite you to call us on 01606 40565.
